Man I was there back in February. I spent most of my time on the Kona side of the island. Kona was beautiful but I couldn’t find good food anywhere. The food wasn’t bad. It just was mid. I feel like Hilo had way better options. Next time I go back I’m spending more time in Hilo.

Love it. I went to so many of those places when staying on the Big Island years ago. We ate at KHOP a few times.

Hey Sean We just arrived in Hilo first thing we got was the 2 sisters mochi that was great. For dinner we went to tetsumen ramen across of the Hawaiian style cafe. Ramen broth amazing, my wife had the gyoza plate you have to try this. Top 5 gyoza we ever had large pcs filled with pork 2 large scoops of rice and Mac salad with tuna. This place must try. We going back before we leave lol. Shootzs.

Huge fan of the traditional Loco Moko but hear me out….. I think it would be an awesome occasional change to replace the rice with some very crispy home fries heavy on the gravy……

If you haven't visited before another local place in Hilo you could visit is Kandi's Drive Inn.

Kuhio Grill use to be good but not anymore. Hawaiian Style Cafe has gone downhill with their flavor also. You have to check out our Okazuya in Hilo as it’s the best in the State of Hawaii. Kawamoto’s, Hilo Lunch Shop and Asami’s is where it’s at for the locals.
